This past weekend a friend I have known pretty much my whole life got married. It was in Tampa which is about an hour and a half away, so we decided to stay the night and make it a little get away for my hubby and I. It was a beautiful wedding, they had live music, a huge JENGA, cornhole, and giant connect four. It was a picture perfect night! I caught up with a lot of people I grew up with and it truly felt like it hadn’t been years. No matter how old or young you are, surrounding yourself with friends that make you laugh and feel like you can pick up just where you left off is so important. We rented a room in someone’s home from Airbnb. This was the first time we did this that the owner was actually there. Some people aren’t too sure about sharing a place with the owner, but for the price it was well worth it. The hostess was super sweet and made us feel right at home and we really enjoyed our stay!

Sleeping in, Coffee, and Shopping

The next morning we “slept in” (which for anyone that has kids would agree but for others… 8am might still be early haha) and then headed to the Oxford Exchange for coffee. A friend had suggested we check this place out and I am so glad we did. It is unlike anything in Orlando – it had a coffee bar, lounge, restaurant, store, library, study area, tea bar, and to top it off, it was really beautiful! The coffee was pretty and delicious which is something that I feel go hand and hand when looking for a coffee spot.

Next we decided to go to Nordstrom since we were only 15 minutes away, and we don’t have one in Orlando. I have to say, for how much I hear about it, it isn’t as fancy as I thought it would be (though still much nicer than any department store I’ve seen in Orlando). We didn’t have much time, so I didn’t get to find anything I just had to have (though I did just pick up my red clutch and those black-and-white-striped + red stilettos only the day before!), since we needed to get home to our kids… so we might just need to visit again!

We grabbed a quick lunch at a place in the same mall as Nordstrom called Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen before heading home. I would recommend checking it out if you have one near you; their lunch was amazing and so was the service. We’ll probably have to visit again next time we are in the area.

On our walk back to the car David insisted we stop by the Tesla dealership (yes, it is inside the mall) to just look at and sit in a shiny new Tesla… annnnnddd now: #goals! Haha. They actually offered to let us just come out and test drive one for fun! I think my favorite part is that it has cupholders that could probably hold anything from an espresso cup to a gallon jug (my BMW’s cup holder is better at launching cups onto the floor than actually holding them)!

Remembering to think about “Us”

A night away with your spouse is so important. If you have kids I know it can be difficult to find someone to watch them and everything that goes along with that. However, even one night away is so worth it, just to get some quality time to focus on each other. This is something that we have tried to do as much as we can (which is much less than we’d like), we don’t want our kids or busy lives to get in the way of our marriage. And time together just to talk about each other and ourselves, to work on “us”, our goals, and envisioning our future is paramount. If you haven’t gotten away in a while, make it happen. It doesn’t even need to be anywhere far away! (I know I didn’t post any pictures of my husband and I from this weekend, because he’s the one behind the camera… but I promise he was there. hahaha).

Spread the Love!

Also, I’m totally new to blogging, especially fashion blogging, and I’d love your feedback on everything from the photos, to the outfits, to my writing, product links, the website, etc.! Let me know what you think in the comments below, on my facebook, instagram, twitter, or any where else you might find me around. I’d honestly love to know what you think!
