Change it up

Do you ever get in a workout rut? I have gone through loads and loads of great workouts, there are some great options out there (P90X 1-3, Brazil Butt Lift, 21 Day Fix, Insanity, Hammer and Chisel, Jamie Eason LiveFit, Body Sculpting Bible for Women, and tons more). However, if you have been working out for long enough you begin to get bored no matter how good the workout is. I started thinking recently that I have learned so much through these workouts that I could just start putting together my own routine. So I did! Which is now something that gets me excited to get up early and workout. Because let’s face it, getting out of bed to do a workout you don’t want to do is not good for motivation!

One of the things I have done recently to change things up is to run once a week, even if it’s just a short run to work on getting a little faster. I am not a runner, so a long run doesn’t sound fun to me. But a short 15-30 minute run right at sunrise has really started to change my attitude towards running and I can already see results in my endurance and pace!

Is there a certain area that you would like to tone/shape?

While you can’t target specific areas for losing fat or change your bone structure, there are some areas you can selectively change. Like:

  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Butt
  • Back
  • Posture, like pelvic tilt correction, lumbar lordosis/kyphosis (often caused by pregnancy), neck curvature issues (aka “text neck”)
  • Total body toning
  • Lower overall body fat
  • Body shape (yes, by building certain muscle groups more than others you can change your body shape!)

I have learned a lot about myself this past year, what areas I need to strengthen, and how certain workouts affect my body. I have also learned what foods best fuel me and give me the results I’m looking for. I’ll be putting together a complete workout routine over the next few weeks plus the foods that have worked great for me!

So, is there a certain area that you would like to change? Let me know in the comments below, on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or wherever else you may find me!
